Available walks and tours during Inter-Noise 2022
We are delighted to announce the tours below. Please note that all tours have limited spaces, are by sign-up only and are allocated on a first come first served basis so please check your email for a sign up email and sign up as soon as possible! It is not possible to attend if you haven’t signed up.
Tour of BBC Pacific Quay
BBC Pacific Quay is the base of BBC Scotland’s television, radio and online services. The building is a large, mixed use space, including offices, various TV and radio studios and a large structurally independent TV studio all arranged around a large atrium, also housing meetings and hosting TV programmes. The tour will take delegates around various aspects of the building, which might include radio studios, mixing rooms and mixed use spaces. This will be a chance for delegates to see the inside of a broadcast building and consider the technical acoustic and audio challenges in making such a complex building a success.

Urban sound planning walk in Glasgow
Together with interested participants, Trond will explore the urban sound in Glasgow and how planners and designers could develop their involvement in the everyday acoustic
environment. On the walk, our ears place us in the centre of the environment to comprehend Glasgow coherently. We will experiment with various reference points in
public urban spaces, actively connecting single sounds into a track of acoustic events. We will explore parks, squares and streets and gently connect with the urban spaces nearby,
the neighbourhood, and the city. We will notice that a few steps can make a difference in how we experience urban sound.
How will the walk influence our perception of Glasgow, our professional practice, and how can you transfer this sound-aware knowledge to your city and projects? In particular,
the in-situ context of the walk can reveal simple details of the built, natural and social space. These details can make an audible difference and thus complement the urban
design and planning process to accelerate knowledge transfer on sound between the actors involved.
